Got a plumbing waste stack and a gas furnace direct vent both on a 12:12 roof - is there a min distance I must keep between them? Using IRC 2018 Mostly see stuff related to window openings etc. Trying to squeeze as many solar panels as I can :)

Thanks!

Not sure of the answer to the question, but why don't you move both vents up closer to the ridge, so they are above the panels and won't shade them?

Cheers, Wayne

Its been a thought- i initially had the plumbing stack do that but not sure about furnace- the ceiling is vaulted there so id be running pipe between rafters sacrificing insulation and not sure i can run furnace pipe that way. This seemed easier- am In heavily treed area so i only get midday sun

Did think of leaving furnace there and moving stack vent on ridge but that is tricky and perhaps not possible to run stack above the limited space i have where furnace is - almost touches ceiling
