I will be presenting four code classes at the JLC LIVE Northwest show in Portland Oregon this December. Though a trade show targeting contractors, these classes are designed to be beneficial to code administrators as well. Nothing makes me more fulfilled in my classes than to see contractor and inspector sitting together, learning together and working positively together. There seems to be little opportunity for contractors to learn code, other than a failed inspection ticket, so please help my lofty cause of making code education available to them and share this flyer. The flyer includes a discount code for admission and information on the show. Let me know if you have any questions.View attachment 2074The links below take you to the course descriptions.Roofing for NonRoofersBuilding Codes for Building GaragesBuilding Codes for Basement FinishDon't Mess With EgressThanks!

"There seems to be little opportunity for contractors to learn code, other than a failed inspection ticket,... "
Glenn, I will respectfully disagree with your statement on this one !..........Insome areas of the country, contractors have as many opportunities to learn

as code officials do.......IMO, it does take effort though !.........Contractors

can purchase various code books, or self help books / videos /other training

materials, ...go online to participate in webinars, other FREE online training

courses, ...attend local training events thru their HBA's and on and on and

on and on........We all have 24 hrs, in the day.........For some code officials, it

is extremely hard to obtain training of any kind, and for some, ...they have

to pay for their training out of their own pockets.

The opportunities are there, ...it just takes effort......Maybe a lot of effort

for some !

FWIW, ...thank you for posting the information about your upcoming

training classes this December in Portland.

Cool, I'm glad to hear that perspective. Maybe it's not as bad as it seems to be to me. I guess my main point is that this code education is contractor friendly, and I try to talk more about the application of the code than the words.
