In a case in Wales, a landlord who is also a firefighter was just sentenced to 15 months in prison because he failed to install a fire door assembly that would have protected a family who died in a fire. There are several articles about it here: http://idighardware.com/2015/11/landlord-jailed-for-door-failure/
I've talked to quite a few firefighters and fire inspectors in the last year or two, and it initially surprised me that so many of them didn't know much about fire doors. In the Wales case, it appears there was an expectation that as a firefighter, the landlord should have known that the "woefully inadequate" door would not provide the necessary protection.
I've had good feedback on our 6-minute video on fire doors - maybe it will be useful to some of you: http://idighardware.com/2015/08/anatomy-of-a-fire-door-video/
