Maneuvering clearance exception

For a new accessible hotel room I requested the response came back that they couldn't get the clearance for the front approach so they were using the ADA exception ofr an ADA operator. My understanding is that as an automatic door, it would need standby power if they do not maintain the clearances. Correct?

ANSI A117.1 requires that power-assist and low-energy doors still provide the clearances, so they would have to go with a full-powered door. However, the ADA Standards stipulate that full-power doors without standby power must still provide the required clearance.

So, to answer your question, yes, standby power would be required for full-power automatic doors if they cannot provide the required clearance.
