Explain the difference and expand on the purpose of the single and double asterisk in the margins throughout 2012 IBC (chapters 4, 5 7, 10, 12, 16, etc.)

An example that's not included in the beginning of each chapter that's applicable ;

Section 402 has been completely reorganized from the 2009 code; therefore, the * and ** margin indicators have not been included for clarity.

A single asterisk [*]placed in the margin indicates that text or a table has been relocated within the code. A double asterisk [**] placed in the margin indicates that the text or table immediately following it has been relocated there from elsewhere in the code.

Go to Page vi in the Preface section and it will explain the asterisks as kilitact described. Plus there is a chart showing where the 2009 section was moved to in the 2012 section
