Matal roof panels

Wasnt sure where to put this ...
Is there a need ... requirement ... to connect a ground wire to metal roof panels? The question was asked in z building forum i read. One guy was saying he heard from a small town fureman that its "in the code"

Nothing about bonding or electric at all in the IBC.

According to an insurance study (Gugenbauer A., Linz Fire Protection Authority for Upper Austria) indirect vs direct lightning damage is about 100:1. This means that a lighting rod is of no merit in cases of indirect lightning strikes nearby to but not on the structure.

Better to use your money on the lottery than lighting rods.
