Mechanical Room wall rating - 2018 IMC

2018 International Mechanical Code, Section 602 - Plenums allows mechanical rooms to be used as an air plenum. What it doesn't clearly state is whether the mechanical room walls need to be rated? The adjacent shaft will be 2 hour.

I think you'd find such requirements in the IBC, not the IMC. For example the requirements of the shaft are in 713. I don't think there's a simple answer to your question, because it begs questions involving rated corridors and the like. I don't think there is a requirement on the mechanical room itself, but I could be missing something...
