mineral fiber ceiling tiles

attempting to find out if mineral fiber acoustical ceiling tiles are approved to support any weight of any kind. I cannot find anything that refers to that in any of the mfr specs. Being an Electrical Contractor all fixtures, devices, etc have to be supported by the ceiling grid and the building structure. In this particular case, the customer supplied speakers and they are stating that the ceiling tile will support them. I need written documentation to either state that they will support it or will not.
 
Not what you want but … i remember back in the 80’s and 90’s it was popular to hang exit lights off ceiling tiles. In sbout a year the tile was sagging badly from the humidity and weight.
 
Check with the tile manufacturer. I'd be surprised if they could support more than a pound or two. I always call for bars to distribute the weight to the grid.
