sounds like resetting the breaker resets the device

I just wonder what the range of the device is, in other words what is the max distance a smoke alarm can be??

also, with a three minute delay, fire might just be ripping and a roaring any way, if no one is home?????????

A useful idea

Can use interconnect on smoke detectors to trip shunt trip breaker in electrical panel which can then let a gas valve like used on commercial drop.

That device used to be called another name years ago - It has stopped alot of fires in our city (former employment). I first saw them when HUD housing started requiring them to be installed when they were updating the housing in our fair city.

We put these through some tests at Bucks County and they didn't work very well. When you say they work mint do you mean you have actually had one go off and make a save? or do you just mean they look purdy hanging under the hood?

I don't know what test particulars you put them thru, but I know of at least 4 residential stove fires that they helped make a save ----- the noise of the container opening and dumping the dry powder chemical usually alerted the home owner that there was a problem...

It put out two of the deep fat fried chicken fires, smothered the third for FD to clean up, and on the fourth, partially knocked down the flames enough that the fire was limited to the kitchen stove top and did not extend to the kitchen cabinets prior to FD arriving.

These devices often only dampen the fire, but not doing anything is worse than having something to try slowing the fire development process down.

A couple of grease in the pan fire, and burnt food, put them out.

I could see if it was large fire that might overwhelm them like a deep fat fry near the stove.

Like any other system if you tax its ability it will not perform as desired similar to a change of use in a fire sprinkled building that has con has a gpsf density increase need because of the of commodity change.
