Here is an article about a new deck lateral load detail approved for the 2015 IRC.

http://www.deckmagazine.com/codes-and-standards/2015-irc-lateral-load-detail_o.aspx?dfpzone=general

Within the article are some very helpful links:

- A link to the research findings from WSU researchers on lateral loads

- A link to a video about the research findings

- A link to the North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA) reports of the hearing development process last year.

I am happy to answer any questions you have about any of this, as I have been deeply involved from proposals to testimony at the hearings.

I am more happy to hear your thoughts, opinions and ideas and incorporate them into the work I am doing now for a new NADRA standard and the 2018 IRC.

Cheers to collaboration, compromise and understanding to the unique experiences and ideas of both inspectors and contractors.

Thanks Glenn.

Also noteworthy, Lateral bracing alternatives, the link is on the bottom of Professional Deck Builders magazine, will see when viewing the document Glenn provided.
