NFPA 13R in non group R occupancy

If I have an NFPA 13R system for a group R hotel (4 stories), but there is a significant portion within the hotel of group A3 and S1, is it allowed? The occupancies are {edit} separated.

So the next question: When calculating the allowable area in an R1, with non R1 occupancies (with a fire area that would not require sprinklers) do you use the NS tabular area from t506.2? I assume so, since the footnote for the other options clearly indicates the use of a 13 system, but want to make sure.

Yes, use the NS values.
