North Star trying to figure out if there's a typo in the book or not. You gave the correct answer to the question I posted earlier. But I am trying to figure out how you got the answer. You used .15 watts per sq. ft for the parking area, table 505.6.2(2) gives an allowance of .13 watts per sq. ft. Howver in the study guide they used .15 in a sample equation. Wher is the .15 coming from?

fiddler,

I believe that **TJacobs** posted the calculations.......I too am

wondering where he obtained 0.15 watts/per sq. ft from.

He may be witholding the answer like **jar546** does

occasionally! :devil

fiddler,

In the ASHRAE 90.1 Standard, `07 Edition, Table 9.4.5 - Lighting

Power Densities for Building Exteriors, provides the 0.15 watts

sq. ft. variable.

It is my understanding that either the ASHRAE 90.1 Standard is

to be adopted and used, OR the IECC, but not both!....Has your

AHJ adopted one or the other of these standards?

I would say that, ...based upon your review of the study guide

that you are referencing, that the study guide used the 0.15

watts/sq. ft. from the ASHRAE 90.1 Standard and NOT from

the `09 IECC.......Sounds like a telephone call to ICC is in order.

I have two separate Tables 505.6.2 that shows 0.15 and the other for Virginia that is 505.6.2.2 that allows for zones 1 through 4 showing 0.04/0.06/0.10/ and 0.13

My `09 IECC, Table 505.6.2(2) is the same as **Greg Harris** Virginia Code.

Zone 1 = 0.04

Zone 2 = 0.06

Zone 3 = 0.10

Zone 4 = 0.13

In my `06 IECC, ...the amount is 0.15 for all "Uncovered Parking Area" applications!
