I'm in a dilemma right now for a project regarding a vertical mixed use development. How do you compute the maximum total number of occupants for the building and how to get the maximum occupants for the separate departments (e.g. hotel, shopping center, offices, etc.)?

Know the square feet of each floor

The square feet on those floors of each type of use: Assembly, Sleeping Rooms, Office [ B ]
Retail, etc.

The occupancy type of each area

Then what ever chart you are using, divide the square feet by the factor on the chart, which
would equal the occupant load for that room.

They should have taught this to you??? If you are asking the question.
