appears it was built in 1989
The Strand located at 500 West 43rd Street was developed by Bhatia Development Associates and completed in 1989 having been designed by Costas Kondylis, at that time, of Philip Birnbaum Associates. This New York building was the spearhead for the Times Square revitalization that was in full evidence by the late 1990’s.
The western end of the Times Square area has seen noted improvements in neighborhood amenity offerings in recent years, with numerous restaurants, boutiques and specialty stores joining the growing number of tall, NYC residential towers rapidly filling with sophisticated urban denizens.
Amenities in The Strand are considerable when compared to other NYC apartment buildings of the same era and rival those of more recently built towers with a driveway and garage, doorman and concierge, health club with rooftop pool, hot tub and spectacular sun deck, and resident’s lounge with kitchen flat screen TV. Some residences have private balconies. There are laundry facilities on every other floor.
Current pricing for available units is limited to one-bedroom apartments ranging in price from $775,000 to $439,000.
