Combustion air for oil fired appliances is no longer per M1702/3. It now refers soley to NFPA 31.

NFPA 31 does not give a specific cubic feet per input 1,000 Btu when combustion air is from the inside.

Seems like we are going backwards on this one. Not very specific.

Has anyone had a problem with this yet?

More and more, codes are referencing back to '31 for oil but the problem is, it is a lousy std. with huge gaps and discrepencies. Does not even harmonize with other NFPA stds such as 211 for venting.

Ya! So for the last nine years we have required this and now we don't. Just another issue to forget about.

I suppose some one thinks oil needs less air the Gas! :roll:
