Gotta love when a landscaping company in NJ does structural changes. I guess there are no state licenses there. Or permits.

You know better, Columbia NJ might as well be in PA, it's just over the Deli up north and a stones throw from Stroudsburg.

and, Jersey has had something you would call a State License for over 2 decades, it's what PA modeled their Home Improvement contractors License after.

I would agree it has very little teeth to it, more of a registration than license, and without it only the home owner themselves can take out a building permit, but who thinks work is not done without permits, in area's that require permits.

And yes Jersey has required permits be taken out for "new" window installs since the late 80's, which is as far back as I can remember off the cuff.

And technically, the company advertising the video does have one of those so called NJ Licenses, but what good is it, if people don't follow the rules.

Many things happen between 5pm Friday and 7am Monday everyday, and also during the week.



Now for those of you who think I agree with what the contractor is bloviating about, I AM NOT IN AGREEMENT, I just have a soft spot for those that think requiring a license & permits is really going to make a difference in stopping stupidity and those that don't care.

An acquaintance of mine put a header in carrying the upstairs of a cape and the shed dormer with a properly sized header with no jacks and just drywall screws through the kings to hold it up.... He was also the super(not)visor on a 3 story wood frame hotel job.....

But in the case of your photo, they are using a kiniflin pin for transverse route support of the header valve and flux module capacitance. So in my opinion, red trains go faster.

A nosey neighbor stopped by when I was building my house and told my wife that I had made a huge mistake because I did not have any headers in my basement and 1st floor window and door openings.
I guess he never knew you can use the rim joist as a header.

Rim board headers shall be constructed in accordance with Figure R602.7.2 and shall be supported at each end by full-height studs. The number of full-height studs at each end shall be not less than the number of studs displaced by half of the header span based on the maximum stud spacing in accordance with Table R602.3(5).
