Outdoor Solid-Fuel Appliance Standards

Can anyone tell me how I might view Chapter 5 of UL 2523 without having to buy the whole document? We're grappling with the regulation of outdoor hydronic solid-fuel appliances (aka, Outdoor Wood Boilers, Hydronic Wood-fired Heaters, etc.) in our jurisdiction. Most of the discussions and requirements in other communities seem to be focused on their emissions and not much around other safety concerns. I've recently discovered a standard which I think might apply, UL 2523, though I haven't actually read the document itself ($600+ is a little steep for our budget!). How are other jurisdictions addressing these from a building/mechanical code purview?

Re: Outdoor Solid-Fuel Appliance Standards

Haven't had to deal with it myself, but if an application comes through that has an installation that is not covered in the prescriptive codes, then require the applicant to provide relevant information that would allow it, as in the the listing/standard.

Re: Outdoor Solid-Fuel Appliance Standards

NYS says it's an outdoor appliance.

Must be listed for outdoor use.

Must be installed in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

HTH,

Tim
