Greetings,
I took the electric plans test a few weeks back. Wasn't too bad. There were several questions that were totally flubbed up though and I mean flagrantly flubbed up! But you know there seems like there is always a couple of questions that are bad questions. Don't let those buggered questions mess with you. Move on to the next one! I will say the test had more questions asked where you had to look at plans than I expected. About 20 I would say, maybe 25. Most of those were pretty easy. There weren't any questions on box fill, cable tray, welders, not much on motors. I had to figure ocp on transformers. Figured some equipment ground sizes and some wire sizes for something else too. Know the rules on temperature ratings and how they effect wire sizes 110.14. Know 110.26 clearances. Know how to derate for ambient temp and multiple current carrying conductors in conduit. Had to figure service size for a house and a couple of other easy load calcs. (driers and cooking equipment)
It was a run of the mill electric test all in all. I thought it was relatively easy. Finished in 1 1/2 hour. But then I am an electrician and have had a few tests over the years.
