Here are some photos from a job being done by this German company. They are very high-end windows. This is one of the window bucks that they handmade. And there was another photo of some other ones that they made by hand. BTW, these were made on-site, not in a factory.

I worked on a residence in Virginia for a German doctor in the late 1970s. He used German windows, which were amazing. If I remember correctly, they were about 3 ft. by 5 or 6 ft. high, and the sashes were made of 3" x 3" or so mahogany. They had hardware that would open them from the side if you twisted the handle one way, and from the bottom when you twisted the handle the other way. We had to advise them to add screens; I guess Germany doesn't have as many mosquitos and other bugs as Virginia.

I inspected a mansion from start to finish. The windows came from Germany. No listing or agency approvals at all.

The owner is Chinese and she had her brother come from his home on England to build the house. It was a kick to talk with a Chinese man that has a British accent. His wife was also Chinese and she grew up in France. I exchanged emails with Hao Tung for several years before we lost contact.

I wonder about the choice to locate this equipment where is is so noticeable.
