Permit Fees are Nothing but Taxes

A little outdated but this was published by the State of California regarding fees
https://www.novoco.com/sites/default/files/atoms/files/pay2play.pdf

The California Supreme Court, stated that a municipality must account for the actual impact of a proposed development, as well as any relative benefit the project will contribute, before imposing a fee. Ehrlich v. City of Culver City, 911 P.2d 429 (Cal. 1996).

This has gone way off topic

That happens with you. You tend to offend people. You can tell the truth in a way that obscures the obvious. I, for one, agree that the government has no right to manipulate the socioeconomic or ethnic makeup of a neighborhood.....But to hear you tell it I have to wonder if I am a racist, elitist jerk. That lasts for mere moments and I'm back to being just a jerk.

WE need to educate the public that BUILDING PERMIT FEES ARE NOT Taxes, SDC's, Park Fees, State excise fees, Transit fees, etc...

Last week we permitted a new home, and the total fees was $38k. Our Building Fees was less than $5k. Our Building Department is funded entirely from building permit fees. No taxes or any other funding source. (It is an Oregon law.)
