Platform Lift as means of egress?

Can a platform lift be used as one of the two required accessible means of egress? It has battery backup, CA., and will be used as one of the accessible entries into the building. I am thinking of this as an alternative to an area of assisted rescue from a deck. Thanks.

If it can be moved I would deftly say it can't be. If it's fixed in a location it seems like it could be since it wouldn't be anything different than an elevator.

Only if the application of the platform lift complies with one of the conditions stipulated in Section 206.7 of the 2010 ADA Standards for new construction. It can be used in for any application in an existing building.

Section 1009 Accessible Means of Egress
1009.2 Continuity and Components
Each required accessible means of egress shall be continuous to a public way and shall consist of one or more of the following components:
6. Platform lifts complying with Section 1009.5, and Chapter 11A, Section 1124A, or Chapter 11B, Sections 11B-206.7, 11B-207.2 and 11B-410 as applicable.

1009.5 Platform Lifts
Platform lifts shall be permitted to serve as part of an accessible means of egress where allowed as part of a required accessible route in Chapter 11A, Sections 1121A and 1124A.11, or Chapter 11B, Sections 11B-206.7.1 through 11B-206.7.10, as applicable. Standby power for the platform lift shall be provided in accordance with Chapter 27.
