This is a hypothetical question...
I'm looking at Section 3411.8.3 in the 2012 IBC which recognizes that platform lifts can serve as a component of an accessible route when complying with A117.1 and installed in accordance with ASME A18.1.
Since this would be an existing building, there is no requirement for accessible means of egress per Section 3411.6, exception #2 and Section 1007.1, exception #1.
Based on the fact that the language requiring the platform lift to be on standby power is found only in Section 1007.5, would there be no requirement for standby power on a platform lift being used in an existing building?
Your thoughts?
Thanks.
