What are your local requirements for maximum and minimum water temperatures?
I was asked what our local requirements were, so I did a cursory review of the CA plumbing code, and I didn’t find as much as I thought I would.
2022 CPC Chapter 4 (Plumbing Fixtures and Fixture Fittings) has the following maximums:
407 Lavatories. 407.3 Public Lavatories, max 120 F.
408 Showers. 408.3.2 Showerheads, max 120 F.
409 Bathtubs. 409.4 Tub filler, max 120 F.
410 Bidets. 410.3 Max 110 F.
601.2.2 Hot and Cold Water Required. Basically, it says they’re both required, but doesn’t specify temps.
601.5-601.8 [AGR] Meat, collection, rendering, pet food. Minimum 180 F.
613 [OSHPD] Domestic Hot-Water Distribution Systems for Health Facilities and Clinics. See Table 613.1. 613.7 Fixtures exceeding 125 F accessible to patients requires warning signs.
CA Health & Safety Code, Environmental Health, Retail Food:
113953 Handwashing: minimum 100 F, maximum 108 F.
114192 Faucets to supply minimum 120 F, unless for handwashing.
If anybody finds anything else CA specific that I missed, please let me know. Thanks.
