Greetings all!......I am seeking some guidance as to how you

approach / handle portable structures that operate as a

business.

Example: A portable structure is desiring to move to a

location, ...they want to set up cooking & food prep

operations [ BBQ-ing outside and prepping food inside ]

for sales to the walkup customers........This type of

structure would be similar to the type of portable food

vendors at a local fair / event / `fest........Zoning,

...parking spaces [ regular & ADA ], ...setbacks,

...access to nearby restrooms are o.k......Accessibility

for the purchases would be an approved design,

no outside dining tables, ...trash disposal, ...grease

interception is o.k.......Utility connections are

questionable.......Other???

Your input is greatly appreciated!

we have them here as well. will it be on "foundation" or set on piers, or on a trailer? most of the prtables we ( i ) have dealt with are now "permanent" because they were brought in, set up on an engioneered footing with block piers and a required number of tie downs on all sides. they al go thru zoning, health, etc, etc.

codeworks,

At this time I do not know any specific details regarding

the foundation.........The applicant has tentatively scheduled

a meeting with our office to discuss a lot of various details.

cda,

Not real sure of how the applicant defines "portable".

That's the term he used when he initially visited our

office.......I will supply more informaion when we

receive it.

north star you've got a pretty good list started so far, also check wind design on the building.

I worry about JR getting around that cooker.

north star, I was thinking mobile modular building wind load when I posted. Portable structure.

we went directly to the manufacturer of the portable structure most recently installed here, to get their requirementas for tie down based on local wind loads. it was 4 on each side, 2 on each end, with specific spacing, and angle for tie down anchor driven or srewed into earth, etc, etc

If they sit on a foundation they need to comply with the requirements for a new building.

If we are talking about prefab residential construction in California there is a mechanism for a state agency (HCD) to do plaan checking and inspections while the local jurisdictions role is limited to oversight of the work done at the site.

Are you in a high wind region?......120 mph+, ...130 mph+,

other?......We are in a 90 mph wind region......Don't

know about any specifics from a manufacturer.....Sorry,

I do not have any further information at this time.
