Somewhere in a past life I remember there being a restriction on PVC Schedule 40 DWV pipe being run on the exterior of a building. It had something to do with not being listed for UV exposure. I cannot find this in the code or standard. Is this still the case, and if so, where do I find this requirement? Or was I just dreaming this up somewhere? Thanks in advance for your help on this.

The 2009 UPC, Installation standard, section 2.3.4, page 372 states, Piping shall not be exposed to direct sunlight. Then gives an exception for venting on the roof.

PA21,

Welcome to The Building Codes Forum!

Because the manufacturer installation requirements supercedes the

codes, always check the manufacturer' installation requirements for

their product, ...whether it is pvc pipe or anything else.

Agree with mtlogcabin, ...here is a link to the Charlotte Pipe &

Foundry Company - Installation Guidelines:....Refer to Page 46.

No negative effects on the pvc pipe, according to [ this particular

manufacturer ] of their pvc pipe.
