I have a section of ramp that needs to flare out at the top. I don't see anything preventing what I show below. (6" rise, no handrails). Am I correct?

Where is your project located? More specifically, what are the applicable codes and regulations for your project?

Out here in California, our state modified the model ADA regs into 11B-505.2, which only allows the omission on handrails at <6" high ramps that occur at door landings.

Am I correct?
I can’t think of anything to prevent the ramp from changing in width either, just be careful not to reduce a required means of egress width per 1005.4.

You say there isn’t a handrail because it is a 6” rise, keep in mind you’re limited to a 1/2” drop-off before you need edge protection per 1012.10 Point 3.

Thank you. Curbs both sides.
