I am working on an office building that is approximately 20 years old. There will be minor interior remodeling (a few non-load bearing walls removed, a few added, and a garage area converted to additional office space. The building is VB construction. Is there any advantage in using the 2009 Michigan Rehabilitation code instead of the 2009 Michigan Building Code?

This is pretty clear, cut and dry under the I-Codes but it looks like you definitely need someone who is Michigan specific on this one. In most instances, existing building or rehabilitation codes give you more options and direction. That is a general statement of course. Hopefully someone will pop up that is familiar with your area.

The Michigan Rehab isn't that much different than the ICC rehab, and you'll see the differences by the double line in the margins. Mostly deal with accessibility.

Not knowing the facts, looks like it would be a Alteration level II. Or you might just choose to use the Presscriptive Chapter, or MBC Chapter 34.

DonaldsonR, I was going to welcome you to the Forum, but it looks like you have been with us almost from the start.

So, thanks for your first post!
