Most self-storage buildings have garage doors in 'em - ie at least 64 ft2 or 5.9m2.The issue that this question is trying to get to is that single storey self-storage buildings are treated differently than multiple storey ones. 3.10.3 is for multiple storey buildings and 3.10.4. is single storey. When we are working with single storey buildings, we can group the together to get some relaxations on spatial separation. This same allowance is not permitted for multiple storey buildings.
Technically, the answer is (d) because the question is unclear about if there are openings is the exposing building face, so we don't know if (b) is true or not.
Where these are multiple storey buildings, they may not have any openings to the exterior or could be located so the exposing building faces do not have any openings in them (they may be end-adjacent, not side-by-side).Most self-storage buildings have garage doors in 'em - ie at least 64 ft2 or 5.9m2.

The wording of the question is that the buildings already exist. In that case, we can't relocate the buildings, but we can control the unprotected openings by reducing or re-orienting them.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.10.3.2. Spatial Separations
(1) Except as provided in Sentence (2), the requirements in Subsection 3.2.3. shall apply.
(2) The distance between buildings shall be not less than 9 m.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The distance between the two buildings is 7.5 m, 3.10.3.2.(2) is not satisfied (7.5 m is less than 9 m), why b) is not the answer)? (compliance with the building code has not been achieved)
I only analyzed 40 questions from a mock test quiz (total 80 questions for one test), there have been so many questionable questions. I couldn't imagine how the package could have been put up for sale....
Another terrible question. If you have not complained about this test quiz, please do so.
