Does a serpentine rail in a fast food restaurant need to meet the same requirements as a guardrail as far as height and meeting the 4" sphere test? I can't find were they are even required!

If I'm understanding you, this is the rail that keeps people in line to order/pick up food? Then no, there is no elevation change, ramp or stairs to require a guard or handrail. It's just there to keep folks in line.

Is the serpentine rail used as a guardrail?

Pcinspector1,

Agree with the other forum members........To me, your application sounds

like a crowd control issue vs. a "protection system" at a height issue, ...more

decorative than anything........The insurer of the business will probably have

some strict guidelines on that type of railing though!
