Sheetrock problem

I was contacted by a builder who bought a foreclosure. There was some water damage, so he repaired and repainted and resprayed ceilings. Then he noticed that there was some kind of deposit/corrosion showing up on the sheetrock fasteners. He sent a sample of the rock to a lab and was told that the product had an abnormally high sulfur content. He thinks this a health issue so is tearing out all the rock and replacing. The sheetrock supposedly came from Canada and the house was built in 2005. Has anybody else ever seen or heard of this?

Sounds like the chinese sheetrock they were having problems with in Florida a few years ago. I believe they did have to tear out because the sulfur was coroding the water pipes and all the electrical equiptment as well.

mn joe,

Goggle Chinese drywall, see if that matches the conditions you speak of?
