The service drop is a foot above the roof. The contractor swears up and down that Edison told him to put the new panel where it is. He must think that I don't talk to Edison. Edison's record shows that the contractor contacted them this afternoon asking for a meter spot. It will be moved.

Amazing that they don't understand we have a relationship with the providers, and in our case, actually work closely with them for safe installations.

Which Edison, the one who is dead? The contractor must have hired a medium to talk to Edison.

In our area, the major POCO has a REMSI standard that is above and beyond the NEC. In their standards for accepting cut in cards from inspectors, it is required that the inspector signs off on both the NEC and the REMSI standard. Here, we are responsible for both the NEC and the REMSI when we send in a cut in card. An electrician may pass the NEC portion of the inspection but we can still fail them under the POCO's REMSI for things such as being less then 3' horizontally from a gas meter with the service drop/meter.

Clearace over a roof is addressed in the IRC...so we get them there.....we do not enforce the POCO's regs here....sometimes I wish we did, them I remember what I already have on my plate....
