solar panel clearances

This is Paul, electrician. I am building an attached patio for the sole purpose of supporting solar panels on my south facing roof. I want to install as many panels as possible [grid tied] Since this is an open patio do I still have to have 3 foot clearances? Or what clearances do I need? The patio is 43 feet x 12 feet. One side of the 12 foot side is attached to the side of the garage and the garage roof is 2 feet higher than the patio roof. One side of the 45 foot side is attached to the house. The other two sides are open.

Wouldn’t you want 3 ft on all sides for maintenance access?
