Existing 10,000 sf building was a beverage distributor, now new potential tenant wants to lease and create an indoor paintball facility. It appears to me that such use would be classified as a Special Amusement Building.

What are your thoughts???

Thanks!

would only agree if they are doing something with the lighting and making noise, and putting up walls /obstacles to exits.

If it is just a large open area, where you can see the exits, and lights are at normal illumination, would just call it a plain "A"

I agree. However, they will need to provide proper egress between the various structures.

I'm going with Special Amusement since the person (owner) won't be in business for long if there are no obsticles to hide behind so players can ambush their targets or seek refuge. This is a logical assumption however and my logic today is suffering since I want to be out on a lake so badly. This could be a great application for Photoluminescent egress path markings :)

Now my office cubicle is a special amusment place, walls to hide behind, and strange noises coming from it!!!

Yea wish I was out of doors in nature today. Guess it is end of the school year, and getting end of school fever!!

anyway would have to see how high the obstacles arek, and can you view the exits from most of the room.

Snow::

should have said ask for layout of facility and any obstacles, nosie makers, lighting effects, the one here uses black lights that look purple.

start with the definiton of special amusment building, go thorugh each point, if you can say no to all of them then paint ball is not.

I went through the same with indor laser tag, it was yes to all, therefore id was a special admusment. besidnI had been in one so there was no chance for the prospective applicant to worm out.

We had a similar building where the occupant put big inflatable installations for kids parties. Long as he kept his exit paths and distances we just called it "A".
