Storage Building

New 3,200 storage building, do they need to install a restroom? CBC sorry I know this is probably an easy question but I have been swamped. Thanks for any and all help.

2012 IBC - SECTION 2902 MINIMUM PLUMBING FACILITIES

[P] 2902.1 Minimum number of fixtures.

Plumbing fixtures shall be provided for the type of occupancy and in the minimum number shown in Table 2902.1. Types of occupancies not shown in Table 2902.1 shall be considered individually by the building official. The number of occupants shall be determined by this code. Occupancy classification shall be determined in accordance with Chapter 3.

The table includes both S-1 and S-2 occupancies. Unless California modified this requirement the answer is 'yes, facilities are required'.

S-I, S-2 Storage according to the CA plumbing code TABLE 422.1 ===>yes

CA did not adopt CBC chapter 29 You need to use the CPC

422.4 Toilet Facilities Serving Employees and Customers. Each building or structure shall be provided with toilet facilities for employees and customers.

I have made exceptions for cell site equipment buildings and "some" seperate buildings in a group of Buildings where there is a central restroom setup

Thanks Mark, I did call it out in my plan check and with the correct CPC section but was not sure if it was exempt somewhere else, really appreciate this board, Oh by the way I am now a Building Official - great but then they downsized my department to just me, so thanks again Mark & JBI

Just had a great Oyster festival over the weekend, really big turnout. Have another three story building just breaking ground yesterday, so pretty busy for a little college town.
