Storage room exit

cda

I hope you don't have to deal with the issue for AHJ approval.

I read all the commentary on the webpage and am still confused on the logic/rationale opinions for and against high security doors for high value storage. My first impression is that if someone is actually working in the room as a work station, then the exit hardware should be openable from the inside without a key or special knowledge. Not enough info in the webpage to really determine how the system works.

As I state, if someone is in the room to me all the locks are unlocked,

And all they have to do is turn the door knob and walk out.

I do not think they are going to lock themselves in the room.

It could "in theory" meet code for egress (maybe not the thumbturn),but I doubt it does. The bottom bolt would not meet ANSI for 10" smooth I believe it is...Thanks Lori for that 2015 update on getting rid of "exterior" I will have to remember that come 2020 when maybe we adopt 2015

Notice the roll down gate on the outside.

If the room is not on an accessible route then the accessibility requirements go away.

I would not have a problem with this since it would be impossible for and employee to be locked in with the locks on the door. The roll down gate is another issue.
