Three times in a row this man has stood me up. It's an EL service upgrade. This is the note he left me today. Next time you are going, let me know ahead of time. I'd like a pail of tapioca pudding.

I ask the office to always try and get a cell phone number for the permit holder contact, and, building occupant. Calls prevent wasted trips, and, allow you to order pudding before checkout.
Do you call before you go to each inspection?

We do if they leave a number and ask to be called, otherwise we assume (yup) that someone will be there.

I call depending on the type of inspection, (do I have to access the interior), and location, (new or existing structure). And, I call a lot during and after all types of inspections to discuss relevant issues comprising Addition/Correction Notices, heads up calls on things I see that will affect future inspections, notification that the inspection has been successfully completed, and, occasionally, I call just to tell a proud homeowner or craftsman what a nice job they did.

I only call when the contractor/homeowner is 15 minutes or more late. My jurisdiction is a very small city so I make 'on the dot' appointments. I assume that someone will be there unless informed otherwise.

Phone number is required on the permit application here. We accept walk-in inspection request as well as hey dude drive-by inspection request as well!

But no pudd'n orders are allowed!

why do you need someone there for a panel changeout?
I need access to the water heater to see if the cold and hot water pipes have been bonded together.
