OK, how does anybody deal with section 3103 of the IBC for Sukkahs? Do you amend the code section in some way to allow this type of structure for this specific holiday? If you amend your zoning ordinance to allow for these, do you need to amend the IBC 3103?

I imagine most look the other way. If less than 120-sf, they are exempt from a permit.

2021 IBC 3103.1.2 Permit Required

Temporary structures that cover an area greater than 120 square feet (11.16 m2), including connecting areas or spaces with a common means of egress or entrance that are used or intended to be used for the gathering together of 10 or more persons, shall not be erected, operated or maintained for any purpose without obtaining a permit from the building official.

A sukkah or succah is a temporary hut constructed for use during the week-long Jewish festival of Sukkot. It is topped with branches and often well decorated with autumnal, harvest or Judaic themes.
