Well Sunday will be ten years

and almost seventy years since Pearl Harbor

So where is the US headed

Are we stronger

are we compromising what our founding fathers fought for

is the US headed down hill morally

I'm not good with words or writing narratives.

In short there may be no simple answer to these questions; but it does say something about why many seek asylum here and others try to destroy our way of life.

Where we are today in comparison to all other forms of societies speaks volumes to what we’ve achieved thus far; good or bad; morally and just.

For your concern; I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America!

All is well

So where is the US headed

Are we stronger No. A house divided can not stand. After 911 there was a strong unity that has waned over the years.

are we compromising what our founding fathers fought for Yes. The founding fathers where trying to create a minimalist government primarily tasked with defending our nations sovereignty from foreign and domestic threats so as to allow states to determine their individual destiny. What we have is a government wherein a central body manages a group of subservient nation states and thus determine the collective destiny of the citizens regardless of individual abilities and desires.

is the US headed down hill morally Definitely. Just look around at what is considered normal or acceptable in the name of "rights" that don't exist. We are told to be tolerant. Tolerance under today's definition means you have to accept an idea, lifestyle or person and if we don't we are bigots or prejudice or racist when in fact we just disagree or don't like something or someone.

I empathize with your perspective but I believe the same could be said then when the constitution was ratified. The media was slanted then as it is today. Law makers and courts were just as ignorant of what the Constitution said then as they are today.

An axiom of what exits today was true then; why pass more laws when all we have to do is just enforce the ones we have? Even the founding fathers argued how the government was to function and sought to influence the balance of power when in office. It never stopped!

Despite all of the advances in technology, science and understanding how the mind works; people's behavior about how they feel things should be is unchanged for the most part since the beginning of civilization.

Are things better or worse than the past; is the cup half empty or half full; what really has change in our country's history of patriotism and righteousness? I would say we are not perfect society but more of a civil society than anywhere else in the world.

My problem is that there will be nowhere to run to if we stay on this liberal, handout, big government, anti-family, anti-religion, anti-morals, anti-tradition, revisionist history, a-new-law-will-solve-the-problem mentality.

TJ & MT spot on and I agree. CDA asked several questions that are the heart beat of America. The answer lies with each of us. Is the resolve of the American people lost? Well maybe! I watched, the Shanksville dedication yesterday and was truly impressed by all three Bush, Clinton & Bidden. The 40 some people that die to stop a plane from crashing into a US city prove that the fabric and resolve of America still exists. The war on Terror is only one fight. " We the people" must be united and fight the many battles in front of us. To build back what once was! To redefine our direction and to preserve our Liberties. It starts in our homes, churches families and most importantly our schools. We must take these back first, if not the politicians will surely sell our souls.

One of the soldiers that was killed in the helicopter incident that happened in August was the brother of one of my son's friends. Their family has three boys - the oldest was killed, the middle (my son's age) just finished boot camp and is now off to be a Marine, and the youngest is still in high school. This family loves their country and has instilled that same value in their children, with one paying the ultimate sacrifice for our country so that those of us that are still here can enjoy our freedoms. The way the community came together to celebrate the life of this courageous young man and the strength that his family displays is what keeps this country going. RJJ is right as well; it starts in our homes and our communities.

The mind-set of individual responsibility is what is missing. The founding fathers had that: if they didn't protest/fight/speak-out about the tyranny of the King, then who would? No one. I am not a person who needs to protest. I am a person who takes responsibility for what I do. The mentality afoot today is 'the government should... fix/pay for/protect me from/make everyone respect me/allow me to do as I please but don't allow my neighbor to do as he pleases if it's not what I want... If one wants freedoms, then all must have the same freedoms. Anarchy doesn't work; dictatorships don't work; communism doesn't work; and democracy works most of the time. You pick, but please be responsible for yourself; and expect the same from others. Train your children to be self-sufficient; to read; to have respect; and get up every time they fall down. [off the soapbox now.]

It would give more power back to the people if the 17th amendment is repealed to prevent our republic from becoming any more towards a democracy.

In theory all other forms of government will work as intended so long as the mass do not desire certain unalienable Rights endowed by their Creator.

Disagree it is the rights given by the goverment and courts that are the problem because they are not based on anything firm and consistant.
