oh.. the day gets even worse for the contractor:
The whole house (and most of the straps) were nailed with 0.099 dia nails.
To his credit, the contractor immediately got on the phone and yelled at his supplier. He was very professional with me. The supplier was furnishing new boxes of nails for the entire house (and apparently some other houses in other jurisdictions)
