Testing Out Egress Width Calculator - Need Help Testing

I need to start simple and have some of this figured out, but don't know if it is accurate enough so I need a bunch of people to test it and give feedback. Give this a try, please:

Wow, this could get complicated, such as trying to incorporate minimum widths in Table 1020.3 which would require an entry field for occupancy classification.

In the Egress Component menu you have Stairs, Other (Corridors, Ramps), and Doors, isn’t there just two per 1005.3.1 Stairways and 1005.3.2 Other Egress Components? No explanation expected, just sharing an observation.

I tested a few different values for occupant load, math seems to be working, not sure how it could be more accurate.

If you enter 0 in the occupant load it highlights the entry field in red, that’s probably a good feature to draw someone’s attention to the error. A negative number also gets a red box but it will calculate a negative egress width.

You’re welcome. Developing it as a work in progress is the way to go.

Another thing to factor into the egress width is for Group H and Group I-2 and stair width in sprinklered buildings per 1005.3.1 Exception 1.

You could consider adding something to report to the user the number of egress components per 1006.2.1.1 (Three or More Exits or Exit Access Doorways) or Table 1006.3.3. (Minimum Number of Exits or Access to Exits From Story), which complicates things because we have the “Occupant Load” data entry field and we have to identify if that’s the occupant load for a space, a story, or the occupant load served by a particular egress element.

People can search the site without setting up an account, I wonder if using the calculators should require setting up an account or not.
