I wrote a while back about the absence of ICC officials at a public hearing on the "proposed" Green Building Code. The new Code appears the brain child of the EPA and Dept of Energy - and their Green specialists - specifically hired to codify their Green dreams into the Code. Well, Maryland has taken a proactive position - adopting the Green Code before it is codified by the ICC. MD counties will be permitted to adopt the Code in toto, or in parts (at least for now). As we know, "optional" designations are merely a get ready status preceding the implementation of the new Code and a mandatory designation. Hope to see a few of you in Phoenix later this year.
