Be afraid, Be very afraid.....

•May perform portions ofthe work of higher classified positions occasionally, as assigned.

•May perform duties of similar complexity in any City department as required or assigned.

•May perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

How about working for me, I can assign all my duties to you and then I can go out and play....
 
Mark, I don't remember having a government job that the job discription didn't say " Other duties as assigned". The building official does depend on me for my knowledge of the codes; and I have at times had to assume the responsiblilities of the building official in his absence. I am also the city Stormwater Inspector; which goes hand-in-hand with my site inspections. I've also helped the city Engineer by taking pictures of complaint areas when we had a flood incident; he didn't ask, I volunteered; we are a team. If that is foreign to you, then you are missing out on something special. Uncle Bob

Mark, sorry I had just had oral surgery and was not in a good mood. Now on percocet and happy with the world. this stuff is good. :)
 
Well, I left a little early. I withdraw my recomendation for this position. I am now back home in Texas and enjoying weather in the 60s for the next week. Using state and adopted laws I was able to enforce the codes; however, after submitting my retirement date the old guard within the system began their push. I did some good and new residential construction is/was code compliant; so at least I have that to take with me. Ya'll be good and true to yourselves.

Uncle Bob, you're correct, and have more that just that that you take with you. YOU have raised issues and held to the high ground when it comes to solutions. Thanks for your example. I'm with the others and hope you will stay with us here and continue to post on this forum.
