Not where I really want to be
An unmanned CNG filling station for truckers, etc being declared and M use group. All structure, no building, no bathrooms.

On a highway for mostly truckers to use, not a specific company, but the public.

I cannot find any exclusion to eliminate a restroom but of course they don't want to install one. Nothing within 500' associated with the station.

Without having them go to an appeals board I can't see letting it go, otherwise I would be making up my own codes or just ignoring codes which is not my deal.

The 2009 I Codes apply EXCEPT for Chapter 11 and Appendix E which are 2012 IBC and 2009 ANSI A117.1

Thoughts from a code standpoint, not just personal opinion. Codes apply.

Required in California

BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONS CODE

SECTION 13650-13660

On and after January 1, 1990, every service station in California ...shall provide, during business hours public restrooms for use by its customers. Service stations shall not charge customers separately for the use of restroom facilities.

In California a fuel Filling Station is defined as a service station

So is one required for the stand alone ATM machine out in the middle of a parking lot, not even near a bank???

don't know about the IPC, but there must be an exception somewhere.

Technically, no occupant load?

Yup, and we stuck by our ruling, restroom facilities will be provided.

"So is one required for the stand alone ATM machine out in the middle of a parking lot, not even near a bank???"

I think you are mixing apples and oranges with that. One minute for a transaction vs. maybe 20 minutes? And, truckers use fueling time to take care of personal business, they don't want to stop and fuel, then go down the road in a search for a restroom.

If that is all the place is designed for, dispense fuel, than if I am stopping there, I know that.

What about the grocery gas stations that dispense 24 hours a day, but the store is closed 9pm to 6 am

Bathroom required at the gas pumps and open 24 hours??

Have not messed with a cng in a long time..

How long does it take to fuel????

I've heard it takes quite a while.

Typically, when the fueling stations are associated with stores, the stores are open 24/7

Not all of them or even a majority
