Uh Oh Burke County NC

Something that caught my attention was:

“I got a home inspector. I did everything I’m supposed to as a home buyer.”

And this “home inspector” missed these items yet a home buyer presumably untrained in construction sticks their head under the crawlspace and sees things that everyone else missed? Why no mention of the home inspector's oversight?

Realtors don't recommend home inspectors who actually find things that might terminate a sale.

That's the problem, right there.

I've walked into newly-purchased homes undergoing renovation and found in-plain-sight failures that a prudent home inspector ought to have found - but didn't. They hide behind the errors and omissions clauses/insurance, and scam a crapton of homeowners who think they are actually obtaining a reasonable service.

I'm quietly (or not-so-quietly) trying to have our association really push for the term "building official" to separate us from ... those folk.
