Unusual things I've noticed about the IRC

We have never regulated residential flat-work. And I was hoping that it would stay that way. This is the first year that we have adopted the IRC. R401.3 requires that any impervious surfaces within 10' of a structure shall slope away from the structure at a min. 2 percent.

So the dog's balls will always be at least 10' away from the patio door. Maybe it's a safety thing.

It is to get the water away from the building

R506.1 General. Concrete slab-on-ground floors shall be a minimum 3.5 inches (89 mm) thick (for expansive soils, see Section R403.1.8). The specified compressive strength of concrete shall be as set forth in Section R402.2.....

Site drainage at 401.3 isn't new either.

I guess if you don't enforce IRC r401.3 maybe you can do mold mitation later when the basement takes on water? Does'nt sound to fun to me.
