does a 2 foot by 5 foot window in a room with a water closet that is separated from the bath area with a door require tempered glass? 2012 IRC

Not because of the bath area. There are other conditions that could trigger the requirement. Tempered glass is not the only option.

Like ICE said....not just because it is in the room....distance from door, height off floor and size, or inside tub/shower are all triggers located in R308

I think i was being a little to technical after re-reading 308 if its not in the room with the tub, it's not a specific hazard unless it meets the 308.4.3. Thanks
