Why Tyvek on an unconditioned corridor wall?

Yes!

See the last portion of IBC 107.2.1 as adopted by Connecticut. I cite that a LOT.

"...When the quality or arrangement of materials is essential for conformity to this code, specific information shall be given to establish such quality or arrangement, and this code shall not be cited, or terms such as "legal," "per code" or their equivalent used as a substitute for specific information."

I provide both the specific information AND the code reference, mostly to shorten and simplify the plan check review. This is especially true on items such as wall or floor assemblies that were tested for STC/IIC ratings, fire ratings, etc. Table 721 in the code makes reference to the Gypsum Association catalog, and that catalog has a front-end section that further describes best practices at material joints, etc. to achieve sound ratings. At some point it gets cumbersome to reproduce that spec onto every detail.

So, I believe that a wall assembly section detail that shows the major components, nail patterns, etc. is appropriate, but incorporating by reference the GA catalog assembly number is acceptable to establish detailed joint information that doesn't need to be on the detail.
