Anyone ever noticed this? I've read this code section many times over the years and just realized it's impossible to meet this code....NC Residential Code section 312.2, exception 2 says "2. Where the top of the guard also serves as a handrail on the open sides of stairs, the top of the guard shall not be not less than 34 inches (864 mm) and not more than 38 inches (965 mm) measured vertically from a line connecting the leading edges of the treads."
Must be a grammatical error not caught by a proofreader, but it says what it says.
