Not where I really want to be
I seem to notice that not many talk about Chapter 33's requirements and have noticed that except for large cities with lots of foot traffic, I don't see much compliance (visible from the outside).

Is there one thing that you always double check during plan review?

How many of you require porta-potties on site for all jobs where there is no restrooms nearby, even a demolition job?

Always a concern and point blank - no porta potties, no inspection . Inspectors were supposed to check three things before continuing inspection - Permit posted, Approved plans on site, and sanitation facilities - this way if restrooms were available (for example - tenant upfit for covered mall), we didn't have major discussions on every permit processed - However, this stamp listed requirements was placed on permit card and on copy of approved plans before being given to contractor.

All commercial jobs require a PP and at least one FE.
Demo's that have more than a truck driver or trac/back-hoe operator require a PP or access to an adjacent bathroom. Most trac-hoe or back-hoe operators have to have a FE for insurance reasons on their rig.

Commercial demo's where there will be additional construction on the lot will require a PP

Barricades to protect the public depends on the circumstances, protection of the roadway, sidewalk and city infrastructure require fencing and sometimes caution tape, cones, plywood etc.

Public Works Department will verify that utilities have been capped. Will require the water line to be severed to prevent the trac hoe from pulling on city water line. Sewer capped for future use.

Hot-tar roofs will require roof edge protection and a FE on roof and one near the tar rig. Access to the buildings bathrooms is normally provided.

If it is a hard hat job, everybody's got to be wearing a hard hat If I see em!

One thing I've noticed is, if the GC doesn't have a meeting telling the subs where the FE is, know one knows where the FE is located. Last project it was in the job trailer, they were afraid it was going to disappear!

I'm in IL, so I'm not allowed by our betters in Spgfld to enforce the International Plumbing Code. Therefore, I don't care if you have a PP on site or not.

Exits, fire extinguishers, pedestrian safety, and anything that effects my public works guys, that all gets checked. No FE's and no silt fences gets written up a lot.
