    1981 SBCCI did not have the requirements for "any" handrails in section 503 stadium- - The steps are not considered a stairway since it does not connect one story to another in a building - thus the handrail provisions were not required.

    The IMC is clear - the Duct work has to be 18" away from combustibles just like the hood - So technically, a kitchen hood and kitchen equipment can be placed against combustible construction as long as clearance reduction of the IMC or Manufacturer's installation guides are met. No different...

    NO - when a fire occurs, the metal heats up and chars the member that the nail or fastener in tid into - which loses strength and pulls out. Also humidity and temperature fluctuations will slowly pull the nails out or as the lumber dries out, the nails may pull out - Have you never seen a nail...

    Does it meet the requirements of 1403.4? Which makes you go to section 706 and reference 602 for fire separation distance.

    the last building department I worked for,, required a firmette to be signed and sealed by a land surveyor to ensure the house was outside any flood plains if the GIS flood plain overlay touched the property.

    unless the elevator is required for an accessible route for egress, the travel distance may be limited by area of refuge requirements - 1009.6 which refers you to 1017.1

    I believe the width to height ratio kicks in the requirement for grout filled blocks/ piers. However, this is also closely regulated by seismic design category - Also, codes 20 years ago may not cover seismic design considerations
